If you are worried about space in your home, you may be wondering where you can put your boiler? Could moving your boiler to another room in the home give you more space, or storage opportunities. One of the questions we are commonly asked when looking at moving or installing new boilers is if you have a boiler in the bathroom. What do you think?
In this blog post, our boiler engineers in Leicestershire answer the question: Can I have a boiler in my bathroom?
Generally speaking, you can have your boiler in any room of your home. This could be the loft, the kitchen, the hallway or the bathroom – for example. However, there are some key conditions that need to be met. For example, there needs to be plenty of space available for the boiler to be serviced or maintained. If there is no space for this in the bathroom, then the boiler can not be installed or moved to your bathroom.
However, if you do have the room for someone to service and maintain your boiler in the bathroom, then you can do this. If the boiler is in the bathroom, you need to ensure it is housed in a cupboard within the bathroom. The electrical spur also needs to be located outside of the bathroom.
When installing or moving a boiler into the bathroom, our professional boiler engineers in Leicestershire will ensure that you are aware of the fire standards. They will also ensure that you are aware of the manufacturers’ instructions that need to be followed too. These will include things like flueing and ventilation, for example.
If you choose to have your boiler located in your bathroom, it also needs to meet IEE Wiring Regulations. This means that there is no risk of the boiler being splashed with water accidentally. To meet these regulations, the boiler needs to be at least 2.25 metres above the area inside the bath, sink or shower. In addition, the boiler in your bathroom must be more than 0.6 metres from either side of your bath or shower.
